Job Summary:
The Painter Technician is responsible for preparing surfaces, mixing, and applying paints, and finishing various materials and surfaces to ensure a high-quality and durable finish. This role requires a keen eye for detail, precision in execution, and adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming as necessary.
- Mix and match paints to achieve desired color and consistency.
- Apply paints, varnishes, stains, and other finishes to various surfaces using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Ensure even coating and smooth finishes, checking for any imperfections and making necessary corrections.
- Maintain and clean painting tools and equipment to ensure longevity and performance.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with other team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Perform touch-ups and repairs as needed to maintain the integrity and appearance of finished products.
- Repair minor defects in wooden items, such as scratches, dents, and small cracks, before painting.
- Keep accurate records of materials used, work completed, and time spent on projects.
- Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in painting is a plus.
- Proven experience as a painter, preferably in an industrial or commercial setting.
- Proficiency in using painting tools and equipment, including brushes, rollers, and spray guns.
- Knowledge of different paint types, finishes, and application techniques.
- Experience in repairing minor defects in wooden items, including knowledge of appropriate materials and methods for filling and smoothing surfaces.
- Strong attention to detail and an eye for color and design.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to work in various positions (standing, bending, reaching) for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and practices related to painting and finishing.
