Telecom Engineer (Substations- SAS & PDS)

Job Description

We are looking for a qualified Telecom Engineer with at least 5 years of experience in Substation Automation Systems (SAS) and Protection & Distribution Systems (PDS) for high-voltage substations. The candidate must have hands-on experience with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) standards, procedures, and specifications and will be responsible for design, installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning of telecom systems across SEC substation projects.

Key Responsibilities

Implement, and maintain telecom systems in SEC high-voltage substations (110kV/132kV/380kV).

Perform configuration, testing, and commissioning of telecom equipment in compliance with SEC 91- and 92-series specifications.

Ensure integration of telecom systems with SAS, SCADA, and protection systems as per IEC 61850 standards.

Work with OPGW networks, SDH/PDH, MPLS, RTUs, routers, and fiber optic systems as per SEC guidelines.

Prepare as-built drawings, cable schedules, technical reports, and documentation in line with SEC requirements.

Troubleshoot and resolve telecom/networking issues during FAT, SAT, and site commissioning.

Coordinate with SEC consultants, project management teams, and other contractors to ensure timely project delivery.

Ensure all works are executed in compliance with SEC safety, quality, and cybersecurity standards.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in telecom systems for SEC substations (SAS & PDS).

Strong knowledge of IEC 61850, DNP3, and other relevant communication protocols.

Hands-on experience with OPGW, fiber optic splicing, SDH, MPLS, and telecom testing equipment.

Familiarity with SEC specifications and standards (91-XXX, 92-XXX, and NG Substation requirements).

Experience in preparing and reviewing FAT/SAT procedures, method statements, and material submittals.

Strong problem-solving, documentation, and coordination skills.
