Steelfixer And Shuttering Carpenter

Job Summary:

We are seeking experienced and skilled Steelfixers and Shuttering Carpenters to join our construction team. The successful candidates will be responsible for preparing and installing steel reinforcement and constructing formwork (shuttering) for concrete pours, ensuring structures are built safely and according to design specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Steelfixer:

Read and interpret structural drawings and bar bending schedules (BBS).

Cut, bend, and fix rebar (reinforcement steel) to required sizes and shapes.

Tie steel bars and mesh using wire, clips, or welding as specified.

Place and fix reinforcement in position before concrete is poured.

Work closely with engineers and supervisors to meet project requirements.

Follow all safety protocols related to steel fixing and site operations.

As a Shuttering Carpenter:

Construct and dismantle formwork (moulds) for concrete structures like columns, beams, walls, and slabs.

Interpret construction drawings and formwork layout plans.

Measure, cut, and assemble timber or system formwork (H20, Doka, Peri, etc.).

Ensure formwork is aligned, levelled, and braced to support concrete pour.

Strip formwork once concrete has set to the required strength.

Maintain tools and ensure safe working conditions.

Skills & Requirements:

Proven experience in both steelfixing and shuttering carpentry.

Ability to read and interpret technical and construction drawings.

Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.

Strong understanding of health and safety on construction sites.

Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging environments (height, confined spaces, weather conditions).

Team player with good communication skills.
