Job Title: Senior Upholstery Manager/Specialist
Job Overview:
The Senior Upholstery Manager/Specialist is responsible for overseeing the upholstery department within a high-end luxury company, ensuring that all upholstered products meet the highest standards of craftsmanship, quality, and design. This role involves leading a skilled team, managing production, and collaborating closely with designers to bring luxury furniture pieces to life. The Senior Upholstery Manager/Specialist must maintain a deep understanding of the latest trends in luxury materials and finishes while ensuring timely and impeccable execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Lead, train, and mentor a team of upholsterers, ensuring high standards of quality and productivity.
Production Oversight: Oversee the entire upholstery process, from fabric selection to final installation, ensuring all pieces meet the brand’s luxury standards.
Quality Control: Perform regular inspections to ensure that all upholstered items meet the company’s craftsmanship, durability, and design standards.
Design Collaboration: Work closely with designers and product developers to ensure that upholstery work aligns with the brand’s vision and client specifications.
Material Selection: Ensure that only the highest-quality materials are selected for upholstery, advising on fabric, leather, and other luxury materials.
Customization & Innovation: Develop unique upholstery solutions for bespoke orders, pushing creative boundaries while maintaining the luxury and functionality of the final product.
Client Interaction: Occasionally liaise with clients or VIP customers, providing expertise on upholstery choices, customizations, and maintenance.
Project Management: Manage timelines and workflows to ensure that all upholstery projects are completed on time and within budget.
Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain safety standards in the workshop and ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements.
Cost Control: Oversee budgeting for upholstery materials and production, ensuring efficient use of resources without compromising on quality.
Reporting & Documentation: Maintain detailed records of production schedules, material costs, and project status, providing regular updates to senior management.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in upholstery, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within the luxury or high-end furniture industry.
Craftsmanship Expertise: Extensive knowledge of high-quality upholstery techniques, materials, and finishes.
Leadership: Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a team of skilled craftspeople.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional eye for detail, ensuring perfection in every project.
Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with designers, clients, and team members.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and find creative solutions to complex upholstery challenges.
Material Knowledge: Deep understanding of luxury materials such as leather, silk, velvet, and bespoke fabrics.
Technical Skills: Ability to use relevant upholstery tools and equipment, and familiarity with CAD software for design collaboration is a plus.
Education: Relevant qualifications in upholstery, furniture design, or a related field (optional).
Working Conditions:
Work Environment: High-end, luxury workshop setting, with access to premium materials and tools.
Hours: Full-time, with the possibility of overtime during peak production periods.
