Job Summary
The Lead Discipline Engineer - Static is responsible for overseeing the design, analysis, and implementation of static mechanical systems on engineering projects, including pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, and other static equipment. This role ensures compliance with industry codes, client requirements, and safety standards while delivering projects on time and within budget. The Lead Engineer will provide technical leadership, coordinate across disciplines, and mentor junior engineers, ensuring that static mechanical systems are optimized for safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the design and analysis of static mechanical systems, including pressure vessels, reactors, heat exchangers, tanks, and other fixed equipment.
Provide technical direction and oversight to engineering teams, ensuring high-quality designs and compliance with industry codes (e.g., ASME, API, PD 5500).
Perform detailed mechanical calculations and stress analysis for static equipment using relevant design codes and software tools (e.g., PV Elite, AutoPIPE, ANSYS).
Develop and review engineering drawings, specifications, and documents for static equipment designs.
Coordinate with other disciplines (piping, civil, electrical) to ensure system integration and alignment with project requirements.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality control procedures in all phases of design and execution.
Mentor and support junior engineers, providing technical guidance and overseeing design development.
Review contractor proposals, submittals, and design modifications to ensure they meet project specifications and industry standards.
Interface with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and provide solutions.
Oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and services for static systems, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
Monitor and report on project progress, budgets, and schedules, ensuring timely completion and quality control.
Mandatory Requirements
A minimum of 2 years of experience working on Aramco projects is required.
The candidate should have experience in managing and executing design projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
10+ years of experience in static mechanical equipment design and analysis, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and tanks.
Proficiency in static equipment design software (e.g., PV Elite, AutoPIPE, ANSYS).
In-depth knowledge of industry standards and codes (e.g., ASME VIII, ASME B31.3, API 650, PD 5500).
Strong background in stress analysis, mechanical calculations, and equipment sizing.
Proven experience leading engineering teams and coordinating multidisciplinary activities.
Ability to mentor junior engineers and oversee their professional development.
Experience in managing project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
Ability to resolve complex engineering challenges and propose cost-effective solutions.
