Job Summary
The Lead Discipline Engineer - Rotating Design is responsible for the technical leadership and execution of rotating equipment design and engineering, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and motors. This role involves overseeing the design, analysis, and specification of rotating machinery, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. The Lead Engineer will provide direction to a team of engineers, collaborate with other disciplines, and ensure that rotating equipment is designed for safety, reliability, and performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the design, analysis, and specification of rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and motors for large-scale engineering projects.
Perform detailed mechanical design and stress analysis, ensuring equipment meets performance, safety, and reliability standards.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams, overseeing the development of detailed design packages.
Review and approve equipment specifications, performance data, and calculations for rotating machinery.
Ensure rotating equipment designs comply with relevant codes and industry standards (e.g., API, ASME, ISO).
Coordinate with other disciplines (civil, structural, electrical, piping) to integrate rotating equipment with other systems and ensure system optimization.
Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and failure mode analysis (FMEA) for rotating machinery to ensure optimum performance and durability.
Interface with clients, vendors, and contractors to resolve technical issues and ensure alignment with project requirements and specifications.
Oversee procurement activities for rotating equipment, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules, managing any risks or deviations effectively.
Provide on-site technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of rotating machinery.
Mandatory Requirements
A minimum of 2 years of experience working on Aramco projects is required.
The candidate should have experience in managing and executing design projects.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
10+ years of experience in the design and analysis of rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and motors.
Proficiency in rotating equipment design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, GT STRUDL).
Strong knowledge of industry standards and codes (e.g., API 610, API 617, ASME, ISO 9001).
Experience in performing vibration analysis, mechanical seal design, and failure analysis of rotating machinery.
Proven experience leading design teams and managing multidisciplinary engineering efforts.
In-depth understanding of rotating equipment performance, reliability, and operational requirements.
Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
Experience in commissioning and troubleshooting rotating machinery on-site.
