Job Summary
The Lead Discipline Engineer - Mechanical - Piping is responsible for the overall leadership and technical direction of piping engineering activities on projects. This role involves overseeing the design, specification, installation, and maintenance of piping systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications. The Lead Engineer will manage a team of engineers and designers, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure the successful delivery of high-quality, cost-effective piping solutions on time and within budget.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead and manage piping design and engineering activities for complex projects, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with project requirements.
Oversee the development of piping layouts, isometrics, P&IDs, and piping stress analysis.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers and design teams.
Review and approve piping specifications, material selection, and design calculations.
Ensure all piping designs adhere to relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API, ASTM).
Coordinate piping design with other disciplines (e.g., mechanical, civil, structural, electrical) to ensure system integration.
Perform piping stress analysis and review reports to validate the design integrity.
Manage procurement of piping materials, equipment, and services, ensuring timely delivery and quality compliance.
Oversee the construction and installation of piping systems, providing technical support to the site team and addressing design issues.
Monitor and control project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful project execution.
Conduct design reviews and interface with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to resolve technical queries and maintain project alignment.
Prepare and present technical reports, project updates, and documentation to stakeholders and clients.
Mandatory Requirements
A minimum of 2 years of experience working on Aramco projects is required.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
The candidate should have experience in managing and executing design projects.
10+ years of experience in mechanical piping engineering, with a focus on design, analysis, and project execution.
Strong knowledge of piping system design, including layout, material selection, and stress analysis.
Proficiency in piping design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, CAESAR II, PDMS, SP3D).
In-depth understanding of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, ASME B16.5, API).
Experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams, managing resources, and coordinating multidisciplinary efforts.
Ability to perform piping stress analysis and handle related software tools.
Solid understanding of project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
Experience in construction, installation, and commissioning of piping systems.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in client and contractor interaction.
