Job Description

The Site Surveyor is responsible for measuring and mapping land, structures, and areas to support construction projects. This role involves the use of specialized equipment to collect data for the preparation of detailed site plans and reports. The Site Surveyor ensures that all surveys are conducted accurately and efficiently, adhering to relevant standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Surveying and Data Collection:
- Conduct precise measurements of land features, including topography, boundaries, and elevations.
- Use survey equipment such as total stations, GPS, and levels to gather accurate data.
- Perform as-built surveys to verify dimensions and locations of constructed elements.

2. Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze survey data and prepare detailed maps, drawings, and reports.
- Interpret and verify survey data accuracy before submission.
- Produce digital models and layouts using CAD software and other relevant tools.

3. Coordination and Communication:
- Coordinate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to provide necessary survey information.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their survey needs and provide updates on project progress.
- Address any discrepancies or issues that arise during the survey process.

4. Compliance and Quality Control:
- Ensure all survey activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of survey data and equipment usage.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of survey results.

5. Equipment Management:
- Maintain calibration certificate of survey instruments and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with survey tools.
- Keep inventory of survey supplies and request replenishments as needed.

6. Health and Safety:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and guidelines on site.
- Conduct site risk assessments and implement necessary safety measures.
- Report any incidents or hazards encountered during survey work.

Qualifications:

- Education: Degree in Surveying or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in land surveying.
- Skills:
- Proficiency with surveying equipment (e.g., total stations, GPS, levels).
- Strong knowledge of CAD software and other mapping tools.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certifications: Professional surveyor license or certification (preferred).
