Job Description:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Welding Quality Control (QC) Inspector to join our Oil & Gas plant project team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring welding activities to ensure full compliance with applicable codes, client specifications, and approved project procedures. The role involves inspection, verification, documentation, and control of welding processes, materials, and workmanship across various site activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct inspection and surveillance of all welding activities, including fit-up, root pass, intermediate passes, and final welding.
Verify welding parameters, procedures (WPS), and qualifications of welders (WPQ).
Perform visual inspections and coordinate with NDT teams for RT, UT, MT, or PT testing as required.
Ensure correct usage of approved filler materials, electrodes, and welding consumables.
Review and approve weld maps, traceability records, and weld logs.
Identify and document non-conformances, monitor corrective actions, and follow up for closure.
Witness and verify welder qualification tests in coordination with QA/QC and client representatives.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive inspection records, test reports, and final dossiers for turnover.
Liaise with site engineers, construction teams, and third-party inspectors for quality control coordination.
Ensure all welding activities are performed in accordance with HSE and quality policies.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in welding inspection in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry.
Certifications:
Mandatory:
CSWIP 3.1 or AWS-CWI (Certified Welding Inspector)
QA/QC Certification or Internal Auditor (ISO 9001)
Preferred:
Knowledge of ASME, API 1104, AWS D1.1, or other relevant welding codes.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of welding techniques (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW, etc.), joint types, and material grades.
Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy piping/welding systems.
Languages: Fluent in English (written & spoken); Arabic is a plus.
Other: High attention to detail, excellent documentation, and communication skills.
