GPS Telematics Technician

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated GPS Telematics Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting GPS tracking devices and telematics systems for vehicles or equipment. The role will require strong technical knowledge of GPS technology, telematics, and vehicle electronics, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Setup:
Install and configure GPS tracking devices and telematics systems in vehicles and equipment.
Perform pre-installation site assessments to ensure optimal system placement and functionality.
Ensure proper wiring, integration with vehicle systems, and adherence to safety and manufacturer guidelines during installations.
Maintenance and Support:
Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of GPS and telematics devices to ensure accurate data collection.
Troubleshoot and repair any issues related to GPS units, telematics devices, or related components.
Collaborate with technical support teams to resolve more complex issues.
Data Management and Analysis:
Monitor the performance of installed GPS and telematics systems.
Analyze system data to identify potential problems, improve system efficiency, and optimize fleet management operations.
Provide customers with reports on system performance and usage.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, IT, or related field is a plus.
Experience: At least 3-4 years of experience in GPS installation, telematics, or a related technical field. Experience in the automotive industry is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of GPS systems, telematics devices, and vehicle electronics.
Familiarity with wiring and installation processes for GPS tracking devices.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
Driver's License: Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Working Conditions:
Work Environment: Field-based, with some office work for documentation and reporting. Requires travel to various locations for installations and maintenance.
Schedule:
Standard work hours with potential for on-call or weekend work depending on business needs.
