Job Summary:
A senior project design engineer is involved with the handling of the confirmed sale's order from the initial stage by providing the power network studies based on the project's single line diagrams and load schedules for the consultant review, also is responsible to receive and plan for any approved sale's order by addressing the comments to the design and production teams as well as providing the project bill of quantities to plan for the production.
A senior project design engineer should be detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to produce accurate deliverables within deadlines. Interpersonal skills are also essential to collaborate with the other operation teams.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform network studies like power flow, voltage drop and cable sizing, short circuit calculation, discrimination and breaker selectivity verification and others using software like ETAP, ABB e-design, Schneider Ecodial, Eaton-xSpider or any other OEM's software.
- Attend the customer’s technical meetings before or after submitting the power network studies to expedite the approval of the studies.
- Study and analyze any sales order approved documentation and come up with a list of comments for the other operation teams to be considered during the execution of the project.
- Prepare and submit the project’s BOM for the further processing of the planning department.
- Check and suggest the material replacement to reduce the inventory.
- Following up with the planning department in case of a re-approval request, a change request, a customer clarification request or material confirmation.
- Approve the material purchase requests.
- Perform an active role to achieve department targets and goals.
Minimum Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Power Engineering from an accredited institution.
- 5-10 years’ experience of relevant MV/LV Substations and Switchgears Design work experience.
- Application knowledge of IEC, ANSI, NEMA and IEEE standards.
- Aware about SEC Distribution Specification of PSS, USS, and LVDP and different Municipality specifications for SLP and LSS.
- Expert in reading and analyzing the customer electrical SLD, load schedules.
- Knowledgeable about the different MV/LV substation products range and LV applications like APFC, MCC, ATS, Gen Synchronization and load sharing.
- Knowledgeable about multiple MV & LV components manufacturers such as ABB, Schneider, Eaton, Siemens, Legrand, and must have expertise in one at least.
- Solid understanding of the electrical circuits’ theory and control diagrams design of MV/LV substation and Switchgear.
- Technical knowledge about the basic calculation of the load current, transformers sizing.
- Basic understanding about the Busbar and Cable sizing of the LV products.
Required Skills :
- Proficient with the different OEMs’ Power flow study tools such as ABB e-design, Eaton xSpider, Siemens SIMARIS.
- Proficient with MS-Office suite.
- Excellent English interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain engineering schedules.
- Ability to develop and manage engineering scope and changes and budgets.
- Ability to support multiple projects.
- Ability to create, prioritize and maintain engineering project action item list.
- Positive attitude, with a willingness to learn new technologies and methods.
- Teamwork, able to work professionally with colleagues and clients and to work under pressure.
- Accurate, organized and able to work minimal supervision.
- Ability to persuade and influence others.
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
