Job Summary:
The Civil Construction Store Keeper is responsible for managing and overseeing the inventory and supplies used in construction projects. This role involves maintaining accurate records, ensuring the availability of materials, and coordinating with project managers and procurement teams to meet project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, including materials, tools, and equipment.
Conduct regular stock checks and audits to ensure accuracy and prevent shortages.
Update inventory records using appropriate software or systems.
Procurement and Supply Coordination:
Coordinate with procurement teams to order necessary materials and supplies.
Receive and inspect incoming shipments for quality and accuracy.
Ensure timely delivery of materials to construction sites to prevent project delays.
Storage and Organization:
Organize and store materials in a systematic and easily accessible manner.
Implement best practices for storage to prevent damage and deterioration.
Label and categorize materials accurately.
Record Keeping and Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of stock movements, including receipts, issues, and returns.
Generate and submit reports on inventory status, stock levels, and usage patterns.
Ensure documentation complies with company policies and procedures.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure the store area complies with safety standards and regulations.
Implement and enforce safety protocols for handling and storing materials.
Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.
Coordination and Communication:
Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and other stakeholders to understand material requirements and timelines.
Communicate effectively with suppliers and vendors to resolve any issues related to orders or deliveries.
Provide support and guidance to construction teams regarding material handling and storage.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in inventory management or a related field is a plus.
Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of construction materials and tools is preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience as a storekeeper or in inventory management, preferably in the construction industry.
Familiarity with civil construction projects and material requirements is an advantage.
