Job Description
The Ship Chandler is responsible for supplying provisions, spare parts, and various supplies to ships. They liaise with ship owners, captains, and crews to understand their requirements, provide quotations, and ensure timely delivery. The Ship Chandler should have a good knowledge of ship operations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Responsibilities
• Receive and process orders for ship provisions, spare parts, and equipment.
• Source and negotiate with suppliers to obtain competitive prices and quality products.
• Prepare and submit quotations to customers based on their requirements.
• Coordinate with logistics personnel to ensure timely delivery of orders.
• Maintain accurate records of sales, invoices, and stock levels.
• Resolve any customer complaints or issues promptly and effectively.
• Stay updated with industry trends and changes in regulations that affect ship supplies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with ship owners, captains, and crews.
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the maritime industry.
• Knowledge of ship operations and the types of provisions and supplies required.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
