Job Description

Job Title: Compounding Pharmacist
Location: Kingdom of Bahrain
Department: Pharmacy Operations
Reports To: Pharmacy Manager / Chief Pharmacist

Job Purpose:
The Compounding Pharmacist is responsible for the accurate preparation and formulation of customized medications in compliance with regulatory and professional standards. This role ensures patient safety, therapeutic efficacy, and full adherence to Bahrain’s NHRA regulations and international compounding guidelines including USP 795, USP 797, and USP 800. The pharmacist plays a vital role in maintaining compounding quality systems, ensuring precision in API calculations, and supporting overall operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
• Compound sterile and non-sterile preparations according to prescriptions, formulas, and SOPs.
• Accurately calculate and measure active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) to ensure proper strength, stability, and compatibility.
• Prepare and review batch records, formulation sheets, and quality control documentation.
• Maintain strict compliance with NHRA, USP 795, USP 797, and USP 800 standards.
• Operate, clean, and maintain compounding equipment safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, and quality teams to ensure timely and accurate medication delivery.
• Participate in internal audits, staff training, and continuous improvement activities.
• Provide professional guidance on compounding formulations, dosage calculations, and product stability.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of experience in pharmaceutical compounding.
• Must hold a valid NHRA Pharmaceutical License (Bahrain).
• In-depth knowledge of USP 795, USP 797, and USP 800 standards.
• Strong technical skills in compounding methods, sterile and non-sterile techniques, and equipment handling.
• Competent in performing pharmaceutical calculations for accurate API use.
• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) — postgraduate qualification is a plus.
• Must be currently residing in Bahrain.
