Driver responsibilities include safe and legal operation of a vehicle, adherence to traffic laws, performing vehicle inspections and maintenance, planning efficient routes, and ensuring the safety of cargo or passengers. Additional duties may involve loading/unloading, customer interaction, maintaining logs, and ensuring vehicle cleanliness, all while maintaining a valid license and clean driving record.
Driving & Safety
Safe operation: Operate a vehicle safely and legally, prioritizing the safety of themselves, passengers, and other motorists.
Traffic laws: Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and safety standards.
Route planning: Plan and follow efficient routes, considering factors like traffic and road closures, often using GPS.
Vehicle Maintenance
Inspections: Conduct routine vehicle inspections and pre-trip safety checklists to identify any issues.
Maintenance: Perform minor maintenance, such as checking fuel, oil, and tire pressure, and report larger problems promptly.
Cleanliness: Keep the vehicle interior and exterior clean and presentable.
Cargo & Passengers
Loading/Unloading: Assist with or handle the loading and unloading of goods or passengers' luggage.
Delivery: Ensure cargo is packed, handled, and delivered in good condition.
Customer service: Interact with clients in a friendly and professional manner and obtain necessary signatures or payments.
Record-Keeping & Coordination
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, deliveries, and expenses.
Communication: Communicate with dispatchers, supervisors, or clients regarding routes, delays, or issues.
Coordination: Assist with coordinating schedules and liaising with logistics teams for efficient operations.
Professional & Personal Requirements
Valid license: Hold a correct and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Punctuality: Be reliable and punctual, meeting schedules and deadlines.
Adaptability: Be able to adapt to changing routes, schedules, and weather conditions.
