We are seeking a young, dynamic individual to be part of our Calexico team. Must be familiar with cooking procedures, health and safety procedures, as well as be proactive and creative.
Requirements
● 1. Preparing Ingredients: Ensure all necessary ingredients, such as fresh vegetables, meats, spices, and tortillas, are prepared and ready for use according to the day's menu.
● 2. Cooking Menu Items: Cook and plate menu items in accordance with the restaurant’s recipes and standards.
● 3. Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the cooking station clean and organized throughout the shift, following health and safety protocols.
● 4. Food Safety Compliance: Regularly check food storage, handling, and preparation processes to maintain compliance with food safety standards.
● 5. Equipment Handling: Properly use and maintain kitchen equipment, ensuring it's in safe working order. Report any malfunctions to management.
● 6. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, and order according to par levels. As well as conducting the weekly and monthly inventory.
● 7. Quality Control: Monitor the quality of food served, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
● 8. Menu Familiarity: Stay knowledgeable about the restaurant's menu items to efficiently prepare dishes and answer customer inquiries.
● 9. Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation, especially during peak hours.
● 10. Checklists Revision: Regularly update and review checklists for daily tasks, and opening and closing duties, ensuring all responsibilities are completed thoroughly.
● 11. Special Diets: Be aware of and cater to special dietary requirements and food allergies.
● 12. Time Management: Efficiently manage time to complete tasks and prepare dishes promptly, helping to maintain a swift service.
● 13. Training & Development: Assist in training new staff members, sharing expertise in Mexican cuisine and kitchen operations.
● 14. Waste Management: Practice proper waste management and recycling protocols to minimize kitchen waste.
● 15. Customer Feedback: Be open to feedback from customers and management to continuously improve food quality and service.
General Requirements
● Bahrain resident or willing to relocate at their own expense
● Fluent in English, written and spoken.
● A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role
● High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
