Job Description: Chief Accountant for FNB and Construction-Based Company.
Position Overview:
The Chief Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the company, ensuring accurate accounting records, managing financial reports, and maintaining compliance with financial regulations. The role involves working closely with both the café and construction divisions, requiring an understanding of both industries' financial needs and challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management:
o Oversee the preparation, review, and finalization of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement) for both the café and construction segments.
o Ensure that financial reports are accurate, timely, and in compliance with regulatory standards (such as GAAP or IFRS).
o Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
o Prepare and maintain budgets for both divisions and ensure proper financial planning, forecasting, and cash flow management.
o Analyze financial data and generate reports to assess profitability, cost management, and cash flow.
2. Accounting Operations:
o Supervise and lead the accounting team, ensuring proper accounting procedures are followed in both the café and construction sectors.
o Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
o Ensure that all payroll functions are accurate and compliant, including handling tax calculations and benefits administration.
o Oversee inventory accounting for the café, ensuring accurate reporting and cost management for food and beverage inventory.
o Handle project-based accounting for construction operations, tracking job costs, billing, and progress payments.
3. Compliance and Internal Controls:
o Ensure compliance with tax regulations and submission of timely tax filings for both sectors (sales tax, corporate tax, etc.).
o Develop and implement internal control policies to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
o Collaborate with external auditors for annual audits and manage the audit process.
o Monitor changes in accounting regulations and advise the company on necessary adjustments to accounting practices.
4. Financial Reporting & Analysis:
o Provide financial insights and reports to senior management to aid in strategic decision-making for both divisions.
o Assist in the preparation of financial projections, including cash flow forecasts and capital expenditure plans.
o Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and offer recommendations to improve profitability, reduce costs, and optimize resource allocation.
5. Coordination with Other Departments:
o Work closely with the café operations team to ensure financial records align with day-to-day operations, including sales tracking and cost of goods sold.
o Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to track project budgets, manage costs, and ensure timely invoicing.
o Coordinate with HR for payroll and employee-related financial matters, including tax filings and benefits administration.
6. Strategic Planning:
o Support the development of long-term financial goals for the company, advising on expansion opportunities, cost reduction strategies, and investments.
o Assist with financial modeling for new projects, especially within the construction division.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA , CPA or CMA preferred).
• Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial role.
• Experience in both hospitality (cafes/restaurants) and construction industry accounting is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting software Qoyod & Syrve ERP and advanced proficiency in Excel.
• In-depth understanding of tax regulations, accounting standards, and financial reporting.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
